POSITION: Executive Director

REPORTS TO: Board of Directors

The Director is responsible for assisting the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in fulfilling the objectives and mission of the chamber. The Director acts as the liaison for the Chamber with other organizations, chamber membership, staff and the community.

FUNCTIONS

Duties to the Board of Directors

1. Work with the Board of Directors to develop the long-term strategic plan of the Chamber and to define annual business plan for the upcoming year.

2. Coordinate all chamber activities including board meetings, general membership meetings, special chamber projects and events and chamber committee projects.

3. Provide regular activity, financial and membership reports.

4. Manages Chamber business within the framework of an established budget developed and approved by the Board of Directors, to include managing Chamber income and expenses to achieve annual budgeted net income goals and approving all financial disbursements for the Chamber, among other duties.

5. Participate in fundraising including event development and execution and grant writing.

6. Other duties or special projects as directed by the president or by the board of directors through the president.

Visitor Center

1. Responsible for effective operation of the Visitor Center.

Membership

1. Establish and maintain a protocol for welcoming new businesses and securing Chamber membership.

2. Develop and maintain effective communication strategy to promote chamber events and benefits.

3. Ensure retention of members and collection of membership dues.

Website Management

1. Develop and maintain website that promotes Nocona and local business news and an interactive membership directory

Creativity

1. The ability to create effective advertising using Canva or relevant tool.

Public Relations

1. Establish and maintain contacts with local media.

2. Represent the chamber at community meetings and activities. Participation to be prioritized by Chamber Strategic Plan, Annual Business Plan and Board input.

3. Develop and maintain strategy to inform local community of Chamber events, activities and board decisions.

4. Develop and execute social media strategy.

Administrative

1.  Manage all Chamber financial and operational reporting

2.  Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.

EDUCATION AND EXERIENCE

Requires: Must have current Texas Drivers’ License and personal car available for business use. Car must be insured, and proof of insurance provided annually. Driving record will be reviewed through background check. Must be available for flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field or minimum of five years related work experience, is preferred.

Financial: Must have at least three years of managing financials in a business environment.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong customer service skills to support interaction at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills. Is able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Decision-Making Ability: Requires the analytical ability necessary to assess all aspects of a situation to identify key issues to develop appropriate strategies and recommendations. Free to identify problems and make decisions based on Chamber mission. Appropriately seeks approval and advice from Board of Directors.

Leadership responsibility: Organizational leader. Orchestrates and nurtures change. Holds self and others accountable. Creates a learning environment and is a resource.

Special Knowledge Required: Strong writing and editing background needed. Must be skilled in computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Office, Adobe Photoshop or comparable program, Wordpress and Power Point).

  • Office hours: Tuesday through Friday 10am - 3pm
